Have You Thanked Your Dental Assistant Lately?

North Richland Hills Extreme Smile Makeover

Your Hurst dental practice would be a very different place if it weren’t for the proficient dental assistants who work there.

Today in our Hurst, Texas dental blog we would like to highlight the importance of these hard workers who are often taken for granted.

Dental assistants make your dental appointment much more effective, efficient, and safe.

You, the patient, are prepared for treatment by dental assistants and, during services (such as filling cavities, placing crowns, root canals, or teeth whitening) the assistants speed things along by passing instruments, holding devices, and recording critical information.

Most North Richland Hills cosmetic dental patients would agree that anyone who helps to shorten their time in the dental chair is a person who deserves thanks!

Keeping the dental office clean and sterilizing instruments are other vital responsibilities taken on by dental assistants. What would we do without them?

My name is Clinton Hyatt. I have been serving the Hurst area since 2011. The skilled dental assistants at my practice, Hyatt Family Dental in Hurst, are world-class, along with the rest of our friendly staff.

If you are looking for exceptional dental care in Hurst, East Euless, North Richland Hills, or Bedford, please give us a call at 817-500-4228 . We can explore your dental care needs as well as any cosmetic dentistry procedures you might be interested in, such as veneers, dental implants, gum contouring, or an extreme smile makeover.

3 Tips To Make Brushing In Hurst Count

Bedford affordable family dentist

Many of doctor Clinton Hyatt’s patients walk in for cosmetic dentistry, porcelain veneers, or orthodontics. Many for routine checkups and cleanings. Most really want to know if they are brushing properly. Having patients come for treatment and leave with questions answered – from which toothpaste to buy to proper tools and techniques – is our business. At Hyatt Family Dental we are all about educating our patients. Sometimes life is as easy as 1-2-3.

1 Soft Bristle Toothbrush
Gentle brushing will accomplish the same results as hard bristle brushing without the abrasive damage to gums and gum line. There is never a good reason to use hard or medium bristle toothbrushes. Better yet, wet the soft bristle toothbrush to be sure the bristles are pliable before brushing.

2 Minutes of Brushing and Flossing
Split the mouth into fourths and spend a good 30 seconds in each quarter. Hit the chewing surfaces, the inside surfaces, the outside surfaces and gently massage the gums. Be sure to address the far side of the back tooth that is never visible but can collect food and allow decay to begin. Take two minutes to floss after brushing in the evening to remove any remnants the toothbrush couldn’t coax out and to clean any beginning buildup. You have approximately 32 teeth and 32 gaps to floss clean. Two minutes should do the trick, but adding an extra minute for good measure can’t hurt.

3 Times a Day
Brushing after every meal should remain the goal. This is difficult for many who are not home for the midday meal. To achieve extraordinary dental hygiene, brushing is priority one. There are as many toothpaste choices out there as you have teeth; without consistent brushing and flossing, those teeth are facing sure destruction. Don’t misunderstand, toothpaste is critical. Toothpaste acts as the vehicle that collects the debris, keeps the bristles pliable, fluoridates the mouth, freshens the breath and a myriad of other side jobs. But after every meal, gently removing food debris prevents breakdown on precious tooth surfaces. Even if you don’t use toothpaste after lunch, a quick brush can keep your teeth free of buildup.

What Can Veneers Do For Hurst Smiles?

porcelain veneers cost Hurst

Hello, and welcome to our Hyatt Family Dental cosmetic dentistry blog. Today we are taking the time to answer a common question that many dental patients have. The question is, “What exactly are veneers and how are they used in cosmetic dentistry?”

Veneers are thin shells made from durable, translucent porcelain or composite resin. They are custom-made for each patient and are used to improve the appearance of teeth. Unlike a dental crown which covers the entire visible portion of a tooth, a veneer covers just the front part of the tooth. They are commonly used to correct teeth that have been chipped, stained, decayed, or that are slightly crooked.

If you visit your dentist for veneers, he or she will first make a model of your teeth. Next, a dental technician will use the model to create the veneers, so you can be sure of a custom fit.

Since a small portion of the enamel on the tooth has to be removed so the veneer can be placed, this process is usually irreversible.

I hope that this blog entry has helped you to understand a little more about veneers and how they can help you to improve your smile. Hyatt Family Dental offers all the services you need to create your very best smile. Ask us about gum contouring, smile redesigns, teeth whitening, dental implants, and invisible braces.

If you are looking for a dentist with know-how creating beautiful porcelain veneers, give Hyatt Family Dental a call. My name is doctor Clinton Hyatt and I have been practicing dentistry since 2011.

Please call 817-500-4228 and a member of our friendly staff can schedule an appointment for you and answer any questions you have about cosmetic dentistry.

Is Your Smile In A World Of Hurt?

full mouth reconstruction Hurst

Do you have severe tooth damage, bone loss, or few or no teeth still intact? This post is for Hurst area residents whose mouths are in a world of hurt.

First off, we feel for you. We understand how severe dental troubles influence you every day of your life.

Whatever the cause of the condition – chemotherapy, recreational drug use, eating disorder, severe mouth injury, disability, inadequate oral hygiene, or simply poor overall health – there is hope.

Full mouth reconstruction can restore your previously healthy, pleasing smile or give you the beautiful smile you never had. Patients who undergo full mouth reconstruction regain their confidence to smile, eat, and speak normally. How would that impact your life?

Replacing missing teeth and adding bone through grafting restores underlying facial structure, improving or preventing that “sunk-in” look that develops when teeth are gone and the jawbone recedes.

Full mouth reconstruction (sometimes called full mouth restoration) is a term which refers to a combination of dental procedures that restore a smile for people with several damaged or missing teeth. Treatment may include any combination of the following procedures: crowns, inlays/onlays, dental bonding, white filling replacement, tooth implants, porcelain veneers, implant-anchored dentures, gum contouring, soft tissue grafts, bone grafts, and tooth whitening.

Dental implants are frequently the best tooth replacement for Hyatt Family Dental patients with missing teeth. A dental implant consists of a titanium post surgically inserted into the jaw bone to replace the root of the missing tooth. If there is not enough bone to anchor an implant, bone grafting may be completed to augment existing bone. The post integrates with the bone to provide a strong foundation for the abutment and beautiful crown. Dental implants are indistinguishable from previous teeth in both form and function.

If you currently have dentures, communicate with us about implant-anchored full or partial dentures. Significant improvements can be made even if you only get two or three tooth implants.

Crowns (sometimes called caps) are used when there is enough viable tooth structure that the tooth doesn’t need to be extracted. A crown adds strength to a tooth that has a large filling or has been injured. A crown can fix a bite misalignment and is usually required after a root canal. In a dental implant procedure, attaching the crown to the abutment is the final step.

Hyatt Family Dental offers a full menu of cosmetic dental care including total mouth reconstruction. Cosmetic dentistry may be more reasonably-priced than you think. Talk to us about financing or a multi-procedure treatment schedule that allows you to pay as you go. Restoring a healthy smile may be the best investment you ever make.

Can I Objectively Evaluate My Smile?

esthetic smile design East Euless

It is no secret that a beautiful, pleasing, healthy smile can be your most esteemed physical attribute. After all, people notice your smile first thing. How do you know if your smile is detracting from your appearance?

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder; if you look at your smile in the mirror and believe it is unattractive, it doesn’t really matter what anybody else thinks. But what if you are not sure?

There are many troubles that are generally considered to detract from beautiful smiles. Missing teeth is a biggie. People who are missing teeth in the back of the mouth may mistakenly believe that the gap doesn’t show. They are usually wrong. When smiling, talking, laughing, or eating, a missing tooth definitely shows – even if the missing tooth is the very last molar.

Yellow or gray teeth diminish the appeal of a smile – even one that is perfectly healthy and aligned – and crooked teeth are ordinarily considered unattractive.

There are a few unique smile characteristics that some people proudly show off and others wish to change. For instance, a gap between the two front teeth can become your trademark. True Blood star Anna Paquin, actor Woody Harrelson, and singer Seal have retained their spaces. Perhaps the most famous gap-toothed smile belongs to seventy year-old model Lauren Hutton who has proudly flashed it throughout her fifty-year career. Other celebrities such as Zac Efron, Tom Cruise, and Keith Urban weren’t happy with gaps so they transformed their smiles with unprecedented cosmetic dentistry.

If you want an objective aesthetic evaluation of your smile, how can you do this? You can’t see your smile from every angle when you look in the mirror. If you want an expert opinion on the attractiveness of your smile, talk to a cosmetic dentist. There are a surprising number of design principals that are used in cosmetic dental smile makeovers. These include size, shape, alignment, proportion, color, and translucency. Additionally, cosmetic dentists also consider the characteristics of the gums, lips, and facial features.

When you have a cosmetic dental consultation, you will be able to see how the vital elements work together to create a natural-looking, compelling smile. Bottom line? If you want to change your smile, you can! Schedule a consultation today by calling 817-500-4228 .

Infant And Toddler Teeth Care

Infant and Toddler Teeth Care Though most parents know the basics of children’s dental care, Hurst dentists continue to see cavities in young children.

Caring for your infant’s teeth should begin even before they erupt. To prevent bacteria growth, parents can wash their baby’s gums with a wet washcloth after feedings.

Babies should never be put to bed with a bottle, no matter how tempting it is for tired Hurst parents. The sugars in milk or juice that stay in contact with teeth for hours can damage the enamel. When your child gets his first tooth, it is time to brush. Parents should use non-fluoride toothpaste until the child is two years old. Then, use only a tiny dab. Young children often swallow toothpaste while brushing. If a child ingests too much fluoride, teeth can become stained.

When a child is old enough to brush his own teeth, it is critical that an adult go over them after the child finishes to make sure they are clean. Many children thoroughly clean the chewing surfaces, but often fail to clean the backsides and gumline. Consult the child-friendly staff at Hyatt Family Dental about dental sealants – an extra protection against decay.

Monitor your child’s meals and snacks. We all know that sugary snacks are not only bad for growing bodies; they are also bad for teeth. Scheduling set times to drink anything other than water during the day can also help prevent cavities for Hurst children.

To schedule a dental consultation, call Clinton Hyatt at 817-500-4228 . I provide quality general and cosmetic dental care for Hurst area patients of all ages.

      Preventing Tooth Decay In Texas

Preventing Tooth Decay in Texas In Texas, tooth decay is one of the most common childhood problems, yet tooth decay also affects adults. Hyatt Family Dental serves people from 20 to 80 years old to help fight tooth decay.

Bacteria is a common cause of tooth decay. Bacteria live in your mouth and combine with plaque and acids to break down the enamel coating on your teeth. The breakdown of your tooth enamel can often result in the development of small holes in your teeth which are known as cavities.

Tooth decay is typically a result of diet and oral hygiene choices. When sticky foods are consumed and allowed to sit on the teeth, or foods full of sugars and starches are consumed frequently throughout the day, tooth decay can result. Foods to avoid include soda and sugary chewing gum; these foods tend to stay around for a while and create an environment where bacteria thrive.

To help prevent tooth decay, simply limit sugary and starchy foods between meals. Also, brushing at least twice a day with a fluoride toothpaste, flossing at least once a day, and visiting your local Hurst dentist in Texas for regular check-ups and cleanings will help prevent tooth decay.
