Stay Out Of The Dental Danger Zone

    Dental Danger Zone

You would never consider running a red light on a busy Hurst street or crossing over a lane of orange construction cones on the freeway, but you might be doing some everyday things that are perilous for your oral health.

I want to share with you some common habits that could be detrimental to the health of your teeth.

Crunching ice between your teeth might be refreshing, but it can be dangerous to the soft tissue inside your mouth. Once this tissue gets irritated, you’re more likely to get toothaches and have increased sensitivity to hot or cold foods.

Participating in your favorite sport without required mouth protection is a risk that no one should take. If there is a chance that a mouth injury could take place (and there is with most sports) then get to the nearest sporting goods store and pick up a mouth guard or, better yet, ask me about a custom mouthguard.

Using your teeth to open anything is a bad idea. Every time your teeth come in contact with foreign objects there is potential for chipping and cracking.

Now that you know how to avoid these risks, what can you do if you’ve already damaged your teeth from these activities or similar ones? Make an appointment with our friendly staff and we’ll see how we can help.

If you’ve had chipping or cracking issues, there are a variety of cosmetic dentistry procedures that might help you. If you have overly-sensitive teeth, I may be able to prescribe a prescription toothpaste to lessen the pain.

We can also answer any questions you have about veneers, gum contouring, or teeth whitening in Hurst. We hope to hear from you soon, but in the meantime, keep those pearly whites safe and sound.

    Let’s Talk About Your Smile

Let’s Talk About Your Smile I’m Clinton Hyatt of Hyatt Family Dental. My office is located at 8711 Bedford Euless Rd in Hurst. One of the best things about being a dentist is interacting with my patients. During initial dental consultations, I listen carefully to my patient’s short and long term dental goals.

I enjoy discussing options and developing effective treatment plans tailored specifically to each person. Some of my patients desire a total smile makeover. I explain in detail the treatments available including teeth whitening, dental veneers, orthodontia, crown restoration, and dental implants.

If a patient is nervous about undergoing treatment, we discuss oral conscious sedation. Oral conscious sedation, sometimes called oral sedation dentistry, is a great option for anxious patients. Dental visits do not have to be painful!

After the treatment has been completed, it is very gratifying for me to see my patient’s reaction to their new smile.

I never get tired of creating dramatic smile transformations for the best patients in Texas!

If you have been considering a smile makeover, let’s talk about your smile. Call Hyatt Family Dental at 817-500-4228 to schedule a cosmetic dentistry consultation. Ask us about:

    Is Grandpa Smiling?

    Senior oral health Hurst

How are Americans doing when it comes to the dental health of the 65+ population?

    The Good News:

The rate of cavities in seniors has decreased in the past thirty years.1

    The Bad News:
25% of persons age 65+ have no remaining teeth2
    Nearly 20% have untreated cavities3
10% of adults 65 and over have moderate to severe periodontal disease.
There is evidence to suggest that advanced gum disease is linked to diabetes, heart disease, stroke and respiratory disease
Most older Americans don’t have dental insurance

Clearly, there is room for improvement. What important circumstances will improve the oral health of age 65+ Americans? The National Institutes of Health cite three necessary components:

    • Improved oral health education for the elderly
    • Seniors practicing effective daily oral hygiene
    • Increased access to dental care1

At Hyatt Family Dental in Hurst, we are enthusiastic about providing our senior patients with comprehensive oral health education and attentive care that addresses the special challenges that influence seniors. These challenges include difficulty brushing and flossing due to arthritis, dry mouth caused by prescription medications, tooth sensitivity, bone recession, and complications due to diabetes, heart disease and cancer.

We want our elderly patients to not only have a healthy smile, but a beautiful one as well. Many of our senior patients have elected to improve their smiles with services such as crowns, inlays/onlays, dental bonding, porcelain veneers, dental implants, and tooth whitening. The majority of our smile transformation patients are thrilled with their new smile and report that it has improved their life immensely. They feel happier, more attractive, and more confident in social settings.

The friendly team at Hyatt Family Dental in Hurst provides the full spectrum of general and cosmetic dental care for Hurst area patients of all ages including porcelain veneers, dental implants and dental crowns.

If you’re looking for the brightest, whitest smile possible but insist that you want it to look natural, doctor Clinton Hyatt can sit down with you and show you how to achieve it. 817-500-4228

Here at Hyatt Family Dental we use effective, cost sensitive, cutting-edge methods and tools as we create the best smile for each individual.

Many professionals and public figures in Texas are taking advantage of modern cosmetic dentistry to improve their appearance and enhance their natural attractiveness. Perhaps you have noticed men and women in the local media with smiles that seem extremely bright and beautiful for people of their age.

You, too, can have a smile that is extremely bright and beautiful, regardless of your age. Whether you are in your fifties, sixties, seventies or beyond, we can provide an anti-aging treatment that doesn’t offer empty promises. Our smile makeovers deliver dramatic results as promised!

You have probably heard of porcelain veneers, dental implants, orthodontics, crown restoration, and teeth whitening. Have You Thanked Your Dental Assistant Lately?

North Richland Hills Extreme Smile Makeover

Your Hurst dental practice would be a very different place if it weren’t for the proficient dental assistants who work there.

Today in our Hurst, Texas dental blog we would like to highlight the importance of these hard workers who are often taken for granted.

Dental assistants make your dental appointment much more effective, efficient, and safe.

You, the patient, are prepared for treatment by dental assistants and, during services (such as filling cavities, placing crowns, root canals, or teeth whitening) the assistants speed things along by passing instruments, holding devices, and recording critical information.

Most North Richland Hills cosmetic dental patients would agree that anyone who helps to shorten their time in the dental chair is a person who deserves thanks!

Keeping the dental office clean and sterilizing instruments are other vital responsibilities taken on by dental assistants. What would we do without them?

My name is Clinton Hyatt. I have been serving the Hurst area since 2011. The skilled dental assistants at my practice, Hyatt Family Dental in Hurst, are world-class, along with the rest of our friendly staff.

If you are looking for exceptional dental care in Hurst, East Euless, North Richland Hills, or Bedford, please give us a call at 817-500-4228 . We can explore your dental care needs as well as any cosmetic dentistry procedures you might be interested in, such as veneers, dental implants, gum contouring, or an extreme smile makeover.

    Beware Of An Acidic Diet

Hurst tooth strengthening Most Hurst residents don’t often think of a tooth as a body part that fluctuates in strength. Our teeth seem to have a steady hardness and dependably grind food whenever we need them. However, teeth are dynamic organisms with chemical processes that occur continually.

The protective enamel that covers the softer interior is made of minerals. Enamel demineralizes (loses some of its density) when coming in contact with acids. Saliva can dilute and neutralize acid so the tooth can remineralize (re-harden). This process isn’t instantaneous, however. While the enamel is soft, the tooth is vulnerable to losing a microscopic outer layer of enamel. If the erosion continues, the much softer dentin is exposed. Eventually, the tooth may need to be extracted.

At Hyatt Family Dental, we are noticing an increase in cases of serious acid erosion. It is apparent that the typical Hurst diet is becoming more acidic.

The list of acidic foods may surprise you. They include eggs, gravy, asparagus, chicken, cottage cheese, honey, fish, ham, butter, sour cream, aged cheese, and yogurt with active cultures. Generally, food with a high sugar or artificial sweetener content are highly acidic.

Now let’s talk about drinks. You probably already know that soda pop and wine are not good for your teeth. Hurst teens that sip soda all day can have acid erosion while their young teeth should be at their strongest. In addition to soda, energy drinks are very popular in Texas and Hurst cosmetic dentists are noticing the effects on their dental patients’ tooth enamel.

If you drink soda or energy drinks often, you may want to drink water or chew sugarless gum after downing a can. Stimulating saliva production can speed up the remineralization process.

If your teeth have become more sensitive in general, or in response to hot or cold foods or beverages, you may have acid erosion. To schedule an examination with Clinton Hyatt at Hyatt Family Dental, call 817-500-4228 today.

We are a full-service dental office with hundreds of satisfied patients in Hurst, Euless and North Richland Hills. We are located at 8711 Bedford Euless Rd in Hurst. We are working to raise awareness of the oral health dangers of acid erosion. We hope you have benefited from this Hyatt Family Dental blog article and look forward to your visit.

3 Tips To Make Brushing In Hurst Count

    Bedford affordable family dentist

Many of doctor Clinton Hyatt’s patients walk in for cosmetic dentistry, porcelain veneers, or orthodontics. Many for routine checkups and cleanings. Most really want to know if they are brushing properly. Having patients come for treatment and leave with questions answered – from which toothpaste to buy to proper tools and techniques – is our business. At Hyatt Family Dental we are all about educating our patients. Sometimes life is as easy as 1-2-3.

    1 Soft Bristle Toothbrush
Gentle brushing will accomplish the same results as hard bristle brushing without the abrasive damage to gums and gum line. There is never a good reason to use hard or medium bristle toothbrushes. Better yet, wet the soft bristle toothbrush to be sure the bristles are pliable before brushing.

2 Minutes of Brushing and Flossing
Split the mouth into fourths and spend a good 30 seconds in each quarter. Hit the chewing surfaces, the inside surfaces, the outside surfaces and gently massage the gums. Be sure to address the far side of the back tooth that is never visible but can collect food and allow decay to begin. Take two minutes to floss after brushing in the evening to remove any remnants the toothbrush couldn’t coax out and to clean any beginning buildup. You have approximately 32 teeth and 32 gaps to floss clean. Two minutes should do the trick, but adding an extra minute for good measure can’t hurt.

    3 Times a Day
Brushing after every meal should remain the goal. This is difficult for many who are not home for the midday meal. To achieve extraordinary dental hygiene, brushing is priority one. There are as many toothpaste choices out there as you have teeth; without consistent brushing and flossing, those teeth are facing sure destruction. Don’t misunderstand, toothpaste is critical. Toothpaste acts as the vehicle that collects the debris, keeps the bristles pliable, fluoridates the mouth, freshens the breath and a myriad of other side jobs. But after every meal, gently removing food debris prevents breakdown on precious tooth surfaces. Even if you don’t use toothpaste after lunch, a quick brush can keep your teeth free of buildup.

Relieving Your Dental Anxiety At Hyatt Family Dental

Relieving Your Dental Anxiety At Hyatt Family DentalHello Hurst dental blog visitors, welcome to the Hyatt Family Dental blog. I am doctor Clinton Hyatt of Hyatt Family Dental in Hurst.

A close friend of mine recently expressed fears about her upcoming root canal. She was anxious about the pain she might experience and worried about getting work off for the multiple office visits to complete the procedure. I assured her that painful root canal procedures are a thing of the past with modern dentistry.

With the latest technology and anesthetics, a root canal (endodontic treatment) is no more painful than receiving a filling. Most root canals can be completed in one or two office visits.

If you have been neglecting your teeth because of fears or concerns about a particular procedure and have not been to your Hurst dentist recently, I encourage you to schedule an exam, cleaning, and consultation today.

We are accepting new patients at Hyatt Family Dental and would love to serve you. At Hyatt Family Dental, we offer porcelain veneers, dental bridges, and teeth whitening.
